I needed to hear this today. Maybe you did, too.
"Be excited about your chance to grow and develop your potential."
I forget this.
I, yes me, still have growing to do. I have an opportunity to continue to develop and reach my fullest potential. Sometimes, I am so hyper-focused on my kids growing and developing, that I forget I am too.
Maybe this crazy isn't even about them. Maybe it's about me and allowing me an opportunity to grow.
Darn it.
"Be EXCITED about life and the opportunities and privileges that the Lord has GIVEN you."
I was a part of a highly competitive cheerleading squad in high school and went to college on a dance team scholarship. I learned how to "fake it". No matter what you were feeling inside, you went out there and gave it your all. Your expressions and posture had to read; "WOO HOO!" even if your insides were crumbling.
The old adage, Fake it 'till you make it, speaks volumes to me. No matter how I felt going out there, after plastering that smile on my face and jumping around like this was the best day of my life, I felt better. I forgot my woes and my spirit was lifted.
For years, I've gotten up at the crack of dawn, plastered that same smile on my face and cheerfully created a bright environment for my family as they started their day.
I believe wholeheartedly that if I can give them peace and joy right out of the gate, their days will be a little easier. It's hard to go from grumpy morning to cheerful day, but cheerful morning can help dispel a grumpy day. So no matter how much I hate mornings (and I HATE mornings), I tried my darnedest to make those first few moments joyful.
No, I didn't learn to "love mornings", that just isn't in my DNA, but my day was brighter, my heart was softer. Faking it until you're making it works folks. I'm telling you, it works!
So be grateful. Be joyful. Be open to growth. Be open to happiness. Be excited about life and all it has to offer, and if you're not quite there today ---> FAKE IT 'TILL YOU MAKE IT, BABY!
